candi dugas is an award-winning, Atlanta-based writer (many scripts developed with Working Title Playwrights), indie producer (candi dugas & associates/Circle of Women/Flight Films), and cultural organizer.
As the founder of Broadway BrunchTM (BroadwayBrunchAndBistro.org), candi particularly treasures first-time opportunities to create art in collaborative contexts with a-mazing talent! It’s another chance to bask in art’s beauty, and to become an even better writer.
candi’s first screenplay, DESIRE’S KISS, won Best Feature Screenplay at the Urban MediaMakers Film Festival (2013), and she’s adapting it for the stage. She’s also developing a stage play honoring her father and other misfits (including herself), pitching her ready-to-produce scripts (WILD + FREE), and exploring how to do Broadway Brunch & BistroTM in our COVID-19 world …
candi’s a graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary, Gammon Seminary/Interdenominational Theological Center, and the University of Florida. She serves on the board of C4 Atlanta, as a Suzi Bass Awards judge, as a member of Working Title Playwrights, the Dramatists Guild, and is an alumna of United Way’s VIP program.
When not making art or advocating for justice, you’ll find this rare Atlanta native enjoying precious time with her daughter, and other family & friends – chasing dreams, adventures, and making memories. (Follow candi on Insta: @candigirlfreedom.)
