Carrolyn Pichet is a native Washingtonian but can boast afew highlights from abroad. A student of the Spingarn High School CollegePreparatory and Business Career Honors programs, she began working at the ParoleBoard before her graduation. This employment was followed by positions at theInterstate Parole Board, the Peace Corps, the African-American Institute and theInternational Military Sports Council. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree inthe Romance Languages from Howard University, with Phi Beta Kappa and Cum Laudehonors. She later attended the University of Maryland on scholarship for aMasters of Art Degree in Spanish Language and Literature. Awarded a grant fromthe International Institute of Education Student Exchange Program, she taught intwo French high schools, one year in Avignon and another in Nice, France. Theauthor worked as a Legislative Assistant with the U.S. House of RepresentativesBanking Committee when she returned from France in 1984. She worked for 20 yearswith the United States National Central Bureau, Interpol, Department of Justice,and in 2009 retired from her position as a Management and Program Analyst withthe Quality Control & Standards Unit, Language Services Section with the FederalBureau of Investigation.Pichet is a self-proclaimed art lover who enjoys all music, especially classical, and the theater. She also enjoys storytelling and writing, interpreting and reciting poetry. She has a passion for participating in speech and writing contests.
