Claire grew up in the Wyatt culture of Greene County, GA., where her book is set. Even so, Claire found herself on an unexpected journey as she wrote The High Sheriff of Greene from over 30 interviews and newspaper accounts. The more she learned about a man she had only known by sight, the more Claire felt called to showcase his legendary story. As she reconnected with her roots, Claire found a groundswell of folks cheering her on to publication. “It’s About Time,” they echoed as they recalled their stories about their Mr. Sheriff.

Though Claire always knew she would author a book, she first spent time as a professional in the fields of public school teaching, Christian education, volunteer services, and non-profits. She holds an under-graduate degree from Mercer University and graduate degrees from Southwestern Seminary and GA State University.

Claire has authored articles in several magazines and in Pens of the Piedmont, an anthology released in 2017. Her blog is www.justclairefying.wordpress.com where she writes whatever is on her mind with a “both/and” perspective.

Claire finds time for cooking, gardening, fashions, public speaking and a cappuccino with her husband at coffee shops in Decatur, GA, where they reside. Claire’s writing has been nourished by the annual Decatur Book Festival, one of the country’s largest independent festivals, where her book debuted.
