Dr. Jacob Hudson Carruthers, Jr., (February 15, 1930 to January 4, 2004) was one of the great African American scholars, historians, researchers, and educators. He was the founder and former director of the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations. He was also a founding member and director of the Kemetic Institute in Chicago. He was also a professor of inner city studies at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.
