Jamila Rowser is an award-winning comics writer, editor, and publisher.
Jamila is most known for her award-winning debut mini-comic Wash Day, co-created with artist Robyn Smith and her indie publishing company Black Josei Press.
She’s also written several comics published by Jordan Brand (Nike), Black Josei Press, Shortbox, Radiator Comics, Versal, and Power & Magic Press. Her first graphic novel Wash Day Diaries she created with Robyn Smith is set to be published by Chronicle Books on June 14, 2022.
Jamila is also the co-founder of the international meetup group Geek Girl Brunch, creator of the hip hop x geek culture project Straight Outta Gotham, and creator of the former blog Girl Gone Geek. She’s been creating content in the geek community for over a decade and has been featured in such publications as Essence, Ebony, CBR, For Harriet, Complex, Broken Frontier, and more. Jamila has also worked in tech and community management for over a decade.
Jamila lives in Miami but reps The Bronx. You can find her detangling her hair, reading comics, and playing with her two cats Sage and Sapphire.
