Lerone Bennett, Jr. (October 17, 1928 to February 14, 2018) was an African-American scholar, author and social historian, known for his analysis of race relations in the United States. His best-known works include Before the Mayflower and Forced into Glory, about President Abraham Lincoln.Writer and social historian Lerone Bennett, Jr. has served asthe executive editor of Ebony for almost forty years.
