Liara Tamani lives in Houston, Texas. She holds an MFA in writing from Vermont College. She is the author of the acclaimed Calling My Name, which was a 2018 PEN America Literary Award Finalist and a 2018 SCBWI Golden Kite Finalist, and All the Things We Never Knew.
10 THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW ABOUT LIARA
1. Her friends call her Lili.
2. She believes that love is the most powerful thing there is in life. Not just romantic love, but the love of family and friends, the love of the world, and most importantly the love of self.
3. Her daughter and her have dance-offs on the regular.
4. She takes happiness very seriously.
5. She has absolutely no problem singing in public.
6. Succulents are her friends. Regular house plants can’t stand her. UPDATE! She is now the proud mama of 10 house plants. And she has discovered her succulents are happier outside.
7. She is a proud Harvard Law School drop-out.
8. It took her a long time to figure out what she wanted to do with her life. Before becoming a writer, she went to law school and then worked as a: marketing coordinator for the Houston Rockets & Comets, production assistant for Girlfriends (TV show), home accessories designer, floral designer, and yoga and dance teacher.
9. She has a BA from Duke University and an MFA in Writing from Vermont College.
10. She lives in Houston with my daughter and her man.
