Hi! My name is Monday Owusu and I’m the owner and founder of Monday’s Child Publishing House. We specialize in retellings and reimaginings of classic literature, folklore, fairy tales, alternative history, and popular tropes.
Funny enough, we do not actually write children’s books. Our books range from middle grade, young adult, new adult, and adult. “Monday’s Child” comes from a naming practice in Ghana where children who are born on a certain day of the week are named (for example girls born on a Thursday are called Yaa).
We are a self-described small-batch publishing house. As a small batch publisher, our mission is to focus on a select group of curated books that highlight community, change narratives, and focuses on the input of individual talents (because of this we will not publish more than a baker’s dozen or thirteen books per year). We are excited to see what the future brings as we are just at the beginning.
